Octatrack Parts Guide

Octatrack replacement
parts & repair guide.

Find a part number, understand the evidence, and check your MKI or MKII before ordering.

Sources checked 2026-10-10. No physical fit testing, live prices or stock checks. Independent of Elektron.

Start with your model. MKI and MKII use different power supply voltages. A part number reported for one model does not establish compatibility with the other. Returning to your unit for community firmware? Use the Octabam hardware checklist.

MKI · PowerManufacturer-listed

External power supply

PSU-2b

Elektron lists PSU-2b for Octatrack MKI; originally supplied with PSU-2. Required output: 6 V DC, at least 3 A, center positive. Barrel: 5.5 mm outside / 2.5 mm inside, 6 mm long.

Before ordering
Read the device label and adapter output. The MKII’s 12 V supply is not a substitute for the MKI’s 6 V supply.
Installation
External adapter replacement; no soldering.

External power supply

PSU-3c

Elektron lists PSU-3c for Octatrack MKII, with PSU-3 and PSU-3b also supported. Required output: 12 V DC, at least 2 A, center positive. Barrel: 5.5 mm outside / 2.5 mm inside.

Before ordering
Match the device label, voltage, polarity, connector and minimum current rating. Do not select by connector fit alone.
Installation
External adapter replacement; no soldering.

MKI · ControlsCommunity-reported candidate

Parameter / data encoder candidate

PEC16-4020F-S0024

Octatrack MKI owners identify this Bourns part in an encoder repair thread. This is a replacement candidate, not an Elektron-confirmed original part or a fit test by Ready Useful.

Before ordering
Bourns specifies 24 pulses, no detents, a push switch and a 20 mm flatted shaft for this ordering code. Compare the footprint, shaft height and switch function with the removed component. Do not assume it fits the LEVEL control.
Installation
Board desoldering and soldering required. Bourns does not recommend hand soldering in its current datasheet; have a repair technician assess the procedure.

MKII · ControlsIdentification only

Rotary control identification

RV112FF-40B1-15F-0B20K-0068

An MKII owner reports this Alpha marking after opening their unit. Their report describes cleaning, not installing a replacement. No completed replacement or manufacturer compatibility confirmation is established here.

Before ordering
Ask Elektron to confirm the full code and control position. The report calls it an encoder; electrical type, pinout and any substitute still need verification.
Installation
Opening and board-level work may be required. Installation procedure not verified.

MKI · CrossfaderIdentification only

Crossfader assembly identification

DX400211

A 2015 teardown identifies an Infinium 45 mm optical crossfader with this marking. The author sought a replacement from Elektron; the article does not establish a successful substitute installation.

Before ordering
Confirm the assembly, cable/connector, mounting and board revision with Elektron. A similarly named Infinium or Behringer X1 product is not enough to establish compatibility. No MKII match is established.
Installation
Assembly access required; connector and soldering requirements not verified.

Part number not established

No model-specific part number or substitute has been established in this guide. Elektron directs owners to Support for spare parts absent from its webshop.

Before ordering
Specify the exact button position and whether you need the cap, switch or complete assembly. MKI and MKII compatibility must be confirmed separately.
Installation
Part-specific installation requirements not verified.

Part number not established

No model-specific part number or substitute has been established in this guide. Elektron directs owners to Support for spare parts absent from its webshop.

Before ordering
Confirm the display technology, connector, pinout, mounting and board revision. A same-size screen is not a verified replacement.

What the labels mean

Manufacturer-listed: Elektron explicitly names the model and part.

Community-reported candidate: an owner names a possible replacement; verify your unit before buying.

Identification only: a marking was reported, without a verified substitute installation.

Not yet identified: this guide has no supported part number.

Request the exact spare

Include your model, serial number, control position, symptom, and any existing part marking or board revision when contacting Elektron. For internal repairs, disconnect power and use a technician if you are unfamiliar with board work.

A symptom is not a diagnosis. Check settings and the manufacturer’s troubleshooting instructions before replacing hardware.

Revisiting your Octatrack for Octabam?

Octabam is an unofficial community project for combining selected Octatrack firmware modifications into an image built from your own copy of Elektron OS 1.40C. See Octabam: upstream project and documentation for current modules, model-specific evidence and build instructions. Ready Useful is independent of Elektron and Octabam.

If you are bringing an older unit back into use or checking a used Octatrack, record how its hardware behaves on the installed firmware before making changes. This checklist helps you describe a fault and find the relevant repair reference.

  1. Power: identify MKI or MKII and check the adapter label against the MKI power supply or MKII power supply entry. Connector fit alone is insufficient.
  2. Rotary controls: turn each control slowly in both directions and note skipped or jumping values and the exact control position. Compare the MKI encoder candidate or MKII control identification; neither establishes compatibility for every control or board revision.
  3. Buttons and crossfader: check each button for missed or repeated presses. With a known pair of scenes, move the crossfader through its travel and record unexpected behavior. See button switches and caps and the MKI crossfader identification; a replacement for MKII has not been established here.
  4. Display and connections: check screen readability and test the audio inputs and outputs with known working cables and settings. Record intermittent connections or visible damage. Display and connector part numbers remain unresolved; contact Elektron for exact spares.
  5. Keep a baseline: back up projects and card contents, and record the installed OS, model and symptoms before changing firmware. Follow Octabam’s upstream instructions for its build and recovery process.

A missed press or jumping value is an observation, not proof of a failed component. Check project settings, MIDI control and the installed firmware before ordering parts. Firmware modifications do not repair worn hardware, and this guide does not certify a unit or replacement part for Octabam.

Sources & scope

Internal part records do not establish compatibility across every board revision. Buttons, displays and jacks remain unresolved; no substitute is suggested for those entries. No service-manual images or teardown photos are reproduced.
